Marcus Freeman confirms Riley Leonard as Notre Dame starting quarterback in 2024

While it seemed like it was trending that way, it’s official. Riley Leonard will be Notre Dame’s starting quarterback this year.

Marcus Freeman confirmed the decision during a Saturday press conference. When asked if Leonard would be the starter, Freeman didn’t make a grand announcement with any theatrics or fanfare.

He kept it simple. Freeman said Leonard has been working with the starters, and that seals his status as QB1 when the season begins in two weeks.

Marcus Freeman was asked if Riley Leonard is Notre Dame’s starting quarterback. He simply said, “Yeah, he’s been with the ones.”

No big charade or announcement for the Fighting Irish’s QB1 designation this year. Not necessary. It’s Leonard.
