Heupel speaks on the NCAA Hearing
It goes without saying that the NCAA hearings currently taking place in Cincinnati are an item of interest not just for Tennessee coaches and administrators, but for also for Volunteer fans everywhere.
From the moment he was introduced as Tennessee’s head coach, replacing the fired Jeremy Pruitt, Heupel has always maintained a positive outlook regarding how he felt the investigation would play out. That’s an outlook he continues to hold.
“Obviously I’m going to pay close attention on the back end. As I’ve said from the beginning though I really believe this is just a speed bump,” Heupel said on the Nashville stop of the Big Orange Caravan when asked how much of his attention was on the proceedings taking place in Cincinnati.
“I feel like we’re continuing to handle it the right way. Our administration has been forthright, they found it, they gave it to the NCAA and they’ve been nothing but cooperative the entire time.”
Rick Barnes ‘excited’ for Santiago Vescovi return
“We are excited because he is excited,” Barnes said on the Big Orange Caravan stop Wednesday. “I remember senior night and he talked about it might not be his last one. It gives us back a guy who is arguably our most durable guy the last four years. Santi loves the university of Tennessee and Vol nation. When I got up this morning I went to the barber shop and everyone was so excited and we know who goes to the barber shop. We are excited and his teammates are too.”
Vescovi announced his decision to return on Instagram Tuesday night, posting that he would be returning for a fifth year.
“I need to clear the air,” Vescovi wrote in the post, “about the rumors going around about me. I’m going going to say this once: They are absolutely true. See you next season Vol Nation.”
