Mailbag Podcast: July announcements, fall camp questions and more

The summer is rolling right along and with it could present some major recruiting announcements in the coming weeks. Where does Tennessee stand with coveted wideout Mike Matthews and running back Braylon Russell? Could this end up being a top-10 class nationally?

The Southeastern Conference Media Days begin next week in Nashville with Tennessee taking to the podium on Thursday. Fall camp is just over three weeks away. Who will lead the Vols in rushing this season and who will be the leading tackler? What about sacks?

Brent Hubbs, Austin Price, Rob Lewis and Eric Cain discuss it all on this week’s edition of the Volquest Mailbag Podcast. It’s presented by Exterior Home Solutions. For a free estimate, give them a call at 865-524-5888.

Quote of the Pod

Does Tennessee have the talent and depth to make a national championship run?

Austin Price: “We are sitting here five minutes ago discussing whether or not the Vols can get past Florida for the first time in 20 years in Gainesville. Now, we got them going to the playoffs [laughs]. I think they do. I think if they are going to make a run, it’s more so this year than next year. Hubbs and I have had this discussion and I think Hubs has put this on the board. The number of offensive and defensive linemen that they could potentially lose after this year is pretty drastic on both sides of the line of scrimmage. If you’re going to make a run, it should probably be this year. The schedule sets up pretty well for you. You don’t have any type of juggernaut in September. There are some tough games…A&M is a toss game. I think Tennessee can beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa which is mindboggling for me to say. You get to November and see what happens with Georgia. If you don’t have a stumble game and are sitting there with one or two losses, you’ll be in position for the playoffs.”
