Mailbag Podcast: How will the Vols fare with announcements looming?

Tennessee football recruiting is heating up as the official visit month of June will be followed by announcements this weekend and throughout the month of July. How will the Vols fare with some of their top-targets on the board?

And the baseball transfer portal is swirling and the Vols are right there in the middle of it with a couple of key additions since Friday. What will they bring to the table and who is left on the board?

Matt Ray on a current commit with the best chance to move up in the On3 rankings…

“That’s an interesting question. I think a guy who has a case to move up the rankings is Gage Ginther. We talked about him a lot and he was a nice early eval by the Tennessee staff. He’s a guy who can do a lot of things. A really athletic tackle body. I [also] don’t think you’re done seeing Boo Carter move up the rankings. He gets to Bradley Central and plays a higher classification of football this fall. A really well-coached football team, so I think you see Boo Carter have a chance to kick up the rankings. His teammate, Marcus Goree as well. Both of those guys are guys Tennessee has coveted throughout the recruiting process and for good reason. I think you have a chance to see both of those guys climb up the rankings as well. I think Jeremias Heard is a guy who is very interesting, but I’m not sure he will be a major ranking climber. He didn’t camp anywhere,  and we will see what he puts out film wise this fall. It’s just not a program who is going to be doing a lot. He’s going to be playing tight end on the offensive side of the football and play different situations on the defensive side of the football. For Jeremias Heard, I don’t think that bodes well for him to climb up the rankings but doesn’t dictate who he is as a player though. He’s an athletic freak.”
