Lucky Charms: Updates on a pair of 2026 four-star Notre Dame O-line targets
Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.
*** Portage (Mich.) Northern’s Gregory Patrick, who ranks as the nation’s No. 118 overall prospect and No. 7 interior offensive lineman according to the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, trimmed his long list of scholarship offers down to nine on Monday afternoon. Alabama, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Wisconsin are the schools under consideration moving forward for the four-star prospect.
Patrick has been to Michigan State the most (eight times in total), while he’s checked out Notre Dame the second-most (five times). He’s been to South Bend twice this year, including a trip to campus June 18.
“I have been thinking about this over the summer,” Patrick told On3 about narrowing down his list. “I have been talking to recruits in my class about where at and where they stand and I felt it was important for me to do this. Cutting my schools down going into the season is something I wanted to do so I can focus on my season. I see this list staying in the future. I do not see another school coming in late and changing things, so these are the schools I will focus on now.”
Patrick is a Michigan State legacy and has family connections at Nebraska. It’d make sense if you thought the Spartans were the leader for him, but watch out for the Irish in Patrick’s recruitment.
“It will come down to academics because I want to be pushed academically and see the different opportunities after football,” Patrick added. “Then it is about development, the culture of the team, what coaches can make me better and having a chance to compete and win big.”
Here’s what Patrick said about Notre Dame to Blue & Gold after his June visit to campus: “I’m not going to be biased toward any school, but Notre Dame is a pretty good option right now. I’d say all schools are pretty level, but Notre Dame is definitely a solid fit since academics are super important in my decision.”
*** A top Notre Dame target in the 2026 class came off the board over the weekend. Harrisburg (Pa.) High’s Kevin Brown, the No. 37 overall player and No. 3 interior offensive lineman nationally per the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, announced his commitment to Penn State Saturday. This comes as very little surprise, considering he visited Penn State 10 times and it doesn’t appear that he visited another school more than once. The Irish staff loved Brown but couldn’t make much traction with him.
