Lucky Charms: Update to travel plans for 2024 Notre Dame target

Lucky Charms: Update to travel plans for 2024 Notre Dame target

Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting.

*** American Fork (Utah) High’s Davis Andrews, who ranks as the No. 696 overall prospect and No. 70 safety per the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, had scheduled to visit Notre Dame this weekend, but a source tells me that he had to cancel the trip due to high school team scheduling conflicts. I am told that Andrews will now visit South Bend for the Ohio State game at the end of September. Andrews is a senior leader on his team, and it was important that he didn’t miss any time with his high school team for a recruiting trip.

I’m told Andrews is focusing more on his high school team right now than recruiting. This may lead him to make a decision in the next few weeks to lock that in, or he may just stretch his recruitment into the fall. Regardless, Notre Dame is the leader for the 6-2, 190-pounder as far as I’m concerned.

The Irish would like to add Andrews to the fold as soon as possible, but he’s a unique case as a young man who will take a Mormon mission trip at the end of the year. Andrews is more of a 2026 recruit than a 2024 player, so Notre Dame can be patient. In other words, there’s no rush to get him committed as he doesn’t count towards the 2024 class.

*** Notre Dame hasn’t sent out many class of 2026 offers yet, but one of them is to Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic defensive back Blaine Bradford. And the 6-1, 180-pounder visited Notre Dame at the beginning of June and had a strong showing at the Irish Invasion camp. Below is what Bradford told On3’s Sam Spiegelman about his time in South Bend.

“Notre Dame was beautiful, probably the prettiest campus I’ve been to,” he said. “It was perfect weather and it was so nice up there. I could breathe it in. I liked it.”

LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Florida State and Penn State are just a few schools on Bradford’s offer sheet.

*** Miami Palmetto’s Davion Dixon, who ranks as the No. 354 overall player and No. 36 defensive lineman per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, is on Notre Dame’s commit list, but other schools are still in pursuit of him. Dixon’s early pledge certainly caught the attention of other schools, as Boston College, Western Michigan, Western Kentucky, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio State and UCF offered him within a month of his commitment date.

And on Monday, Dixon added an offer from Miami, which is surely a big offer for him. Dixon told me in an interview this summer that he’s going strong with his Irish pledge and is “focused” on Notre Dame, but this just seems like a commitment that will be difficult for ND to hold on to at the end of the day.

Dixon will be back at Notre Dame at the end of the month for the cookout.
