Lucky Charms: Three 2025 recruits I’m liking for Notre Dame

Lucky Charms: Three 2025 recruits I’m liking for Notre Dame

Here are today’s Lucky Charms, a Monday-Thursday nightly insider notes article on Notre Dame football recruiting

I have several class of 2025 predictions already out for Notre Dame football, but are three more I’m very much considering and will probably log by the end of the month. Here’s a breakdown of those prospects:

Atlanta Woodward Academy WR Jerome Bettis Jr.: This shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as he’s the son of Irish legend Jerome Bettis Sr. and has been to campus a handful of times. I have my reasons for not logging the pick yet and can share it at a future time, but this is looking really good for the Irish. I’m not even sure which school would be Notre Dame’s biggest competition for the legacy prospect. And from everything I gather, the staff likes him a lot as a prospect. This looks good for Notre Dame.

Bettis ranks as a three-star player and the No. 59 wide receiver in the 2025 class per On3.

Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame De La Baie Academy TE James Flanigan: Another Irish legacy here, as he’s the son of former defensive lineman Jim Flanigan. Interestingly enough, I’m only expecting Notre Dame to take one tight end in the 2025 class even though it looks like it will only sign one in the 2024 class. Notre Dame has Nate Roberts committed, but my understanding is that the staff is recruiting Flanigan, who is expected to visit campus at the end of the month, as an “athlete.” Flanigan is also an impressive defensive lineman. I like Notre Dame for Flanigan and will probably log the pick if his visit at the end of the month goes well.

Flanigan checks in as the No. 208 prospect and No. 8 tight end according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking.

Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial OT Owen Strebig: He’s not someone I’ve talked with a lot personally, as my coworker Kyle Kelly has been covering the recruitment closely for Blue & Gold, and I know Kyle has mentioned a few times that he’s close to logging a pick for Strebig to Notre Dame. I am, too. Sources are raving about where the Irish are at with the nation’s No. 69 prospect and No. 10 offensive tackle according to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. Strebig will also be visiting for the July 30 cookout, which could be for the win for Notre Dame.
