LSU Recruiting Road Report: Week 2

This fall, the Bengal Tiger is hitting the road! LSU has plenty of recruits across the country to get eyes on and each week, we’ll pass along evaluation notes on each prospect we see.
On top of that, we’ll drops tidbits on some other recruits that maybe should be on LSU’s radar.
For Week 2, we were out in Dallas, watching Duncanville vs. South Oak Cliff as well as Carrollton (Tex.) Newman Smith take on Denton (Tex.)
Onto the notes from Week 2…
2025 5-star Duncanville (Tex.) WR Dakorien Moore: Simply put, Moore was terrific in his season-opener. He totaled nearly 300 yards receiving on the night with multiple touchdowns. Watching the LSU commit, the biggest thing I took away was his slippery nature. Former Tiger Justin Jefferson had that ability to change directions and make guys miss, picking up extra yards. Moore had that same ability on the field when I saw him. He’s got plenty of speed already that he brings to the table, but his ability to find those extra yards stood out to me in a big way.
2024 4-star Duncanville (Tex.) RB Caden Durham: It was a little tougher sledding for Durham on the ground outside of a 68-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Durham hit the holes hard all night, including that big run that displayed the home run threat colleges love about him. The future Tiger is built well physically, adding some serious mass over the offseason to his body. He rarely got stopped behind the line of scrimmage against South Oak Cliff. An added bonus from our viewing was his ability to catch the ball both in the short passing game and getting open down the field on wheel routes.
2025 4-star Duncanville (Tex.) QB Keelon Russell: Russell displayed why he’s a Top 100 prospect for On3. He’s got the ability to extend plays and has ample arm strength to push the ball down the field. Russell was pressured a good bit in the game, but was able to find time to connect with Moore on multiple occasions. He’s got good zip on the ball and is entering his second year as the starter for the Panthers. He’s continuing to develop as a passer and as he gets even more comfortable at the helm, his game will elevate even more.
2025 3-star Duncanville (Tex.) CB Javion Holiday: Holiday is a big corner that could be a boundary player at the next level. The LSU target will need to continue to get quicker in and out of his breaks. The 2025 prospect blew up this offseason with his college-ready size. Now he’ll need to continue to clean up his technique a bit more as his junior year goes along.
2025 4-star Duncanville (Tex.) DB Tyren Polley: Polley is a four-star prospect already and a difference maker on the back end for the Panthers. He nabbed an interception in the game and was physical tackling. Polley’s got the chance to be one of the better safety prospects in the country and has the tools that were on full display Friday against SOC.
2026 Duncanville (Tex.) EDGE KJ Ford: Clearly on the radar for the sophomore class is Ford, who plays opposite of 2024 Five Star Plus+ EDGE Colin Simmons. Ford is the beneficiary of that for one more season while Simmons is opposite of him. SOC ran away from Simmons, but Ford was able to find ways to make plays on his own. He’s a Top 50 prospect nationally already and the No. 1 prospect in Texas for the 2026 class. He got pressures and was a sure-tackler behind the line of scrimmage for the Panthers. Physically, he’s already got a terrific frame on him. LSU could enter the mix and turn up the heat as his recruitment evolves.
2024 Denton (Tex.) OL Hayden Gunter: On Thursday, we saw Stanford commit Hayden Gunter. A big man at all of 6-6, 270, Gunter is an interesting prospect long-term. He’ll need to continue to add mass to his frame, but he has the ability to bend and move that you like in offensive tackles.
