LSU OL/DL Camp: Defensive Line Standouts

Here is a closer look at some of the standouts on the defensive line at LSU’s OL/DL Camp on Friday, June 2 in Baton Rouge.
Ahmad Breaux (2024) – Louisiana (Ruston)
Breaux was a key piece to Ruston’s run to the state title game in December, and it wasn’t much of a surprise to see LSU offer and quickly flip the one-time Duke commitment earlier this offseason. And had the offer not already come, it would have certainly been handed out following Breaux’s showing at camp on Friday. He showed good burst off of the ball and was consistently smooth through drills. Breaux’s looking more and more like a promising add out of Louisiana for LSU.
DK Mays (2025) – Louisiana (Central)
Mays doesn’t have any college offers yet, but that will change for the Central High product. At 6-foot-4, 238 pounds, the 16-year old held his own against a talented group of offensive linemen working in the camp’s top group. Keep an eye out for the Louisiana defensive lineman across his final two seasons of high school football. The college offers will roll in.
Joshua Lewis (2025) – Louisiana (Dutchtown) (OLB)
The Dutchtown product is listed at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, and he returned to Baton Rouge on Friday for his second LSU OL/DL Camp of his high school career. This time, Lewis was firmly in the top group of defensive linemen, and he’s likely set to play outside linebacker at the college level. Much like with DK Mays, Lewis is a Baton Rouge area product who should see his stock rise as college coaches get an eye on the 2025 class.
Caleb Smith (2025) – Alabama (Parker)
It’s been a busy month for Smith. On May 1, Georgia Tech became his first college offer. He added West Virginia and Appalachian State offers in the following weeks, and he kicked off the month of June with an offer from Louisville. During Friday’s LSU OL/DL Camp, college coaches from schools across Louisiana were also in attendance – which led to Tulane joining the mix with an offer. He worked through the LSU camp with his shoulder in a sling, which sent a strong message to the LSU staff as he battled through injury. Smith is firmly on the evaluation board moving forward.
JaReylan McCoy (2026) – Mississippi (Tupelo)
McCoy was a head-turner thanks to his 6-foot-7, 240-pound frame. It’s impressive for any high school defensive lineman, let alone a 9th grader. McCoy arrived at camp with offers from six SEC schools, and LSU quickly joined that mix. McCoy will be a nationally recruited prospect in the 2026 cycle, and there’s good news for the Tigers. The Mississippi native’s first college offer came from South Carolina, and it was handed out by current LSU defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey.
Fredric Downing Jr. (2026) – Louisiana (Hahnville)
Downing worked with the top group of offensive linemen from start to finish, and it’s clear the Hahnville freshman has some clear upside to his game with three years of high school football still in front of him. The 6-foot-3, 257-pound defensive tackle will work himself into plenty more playing time at Hahnville as a sophomore, and the college offers will follow.
Sam LeJeune (2027) – Mississippi (St. Stanislaus)
For a prospect who hasn’t even left the 8th grade, LeJeune more than held his own against high schoolers from across the Southeast. LeJeune showed some impressive athleticism and a frame that could continue to add mass across the four years of high school still in front of him. He certainly caught the eye of LSU’s staff on Friday, and he’s a no-brainer name to file away for the future.
