LSU OL Big Board: Who’s left in 2024?
The LSU football staff has put together one of the more impressive offensive line hauls in the SEC, reeling in commitments four prospects before they began their senior seasons.
North Carolina four-star offensive tackle Ethan Calloway, an On3 Top 100 prospect, is the highest-ranked recruit in the group.
The Tigers also have an offensive tackle commitment from Texas three-star Ory Williams, who picked LSU over a double-digit offer list that included Texas A&M, Texas and Florida.
The Tigers have a pair of interior offensive linemen committed, and both are from the state of Louisiana. John Ehret’s Khayree Lee got on board first, followed by Natchitoches Central’s Joseph Cryer in late-July.
Will LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis stick with the four commitments on board, or will the Tigers get to five offensive line additions this cycle?
Here are some names to keep an eye on as official visits get set for the fall.
No. 2 OT sets official visit to LSU
Jordan Seaton – 6-foot-5, 295 pounds – IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.)
Seaton is ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle prospect in America, and teams are lining up to get official visits ahead of his announcement – which isn’t set to come until after a wave of campus stops across the next three months.
Seaton will kick off a stretch of six official visits when he travels to Baton Rouge for LSU’s home opener against Grambling on Sep. 9. That gives the Tigers the first swing, but there’s competition to follow.
Seaton is also set to make September official visits to Florida and Oklahoma. In October, the four-star will make an official visit to Ohio State, then he will visit both South Carolina and Oregon in November. With a summer official visit already in the books to Alabama, there’s a number of ways Seaton’s recruitment could go ahead of December’s Early Signing Period.
The trip to Baton Rouge in September will be the first time Seaton has seen LSU in person, so any chance the Tigers have hinges on making a big splash on his first college trip of the season.
Is Thurmon the most likely final piece for the Tigers?
Elyjah Thurmon – 6-foot-3, 265 pounds – Bradwell Institute (Hinesville, Ga.)
While LSU’s push for Jordan Seaton might feel like a longshot to some, the Tigers are seemingly in a good position with Thurmon.
LSU hosted Thurmon for camp in June, and offensive line coach Brad Davis saw enough from the in-person workouts to offer the Peach State rising senior a verbal scholarship.
Thurmon returned to campus at the end of July for the Bayou Splash recruiting event, which helped the four-star prospect get even more familiar with the program and staff in Baton Rouge.
Now, LSU’s set to host Thurmon for an official visit this fall. He’s in the process of setting up his college stops ahead of the Early Signing Period, but the Tigers are locked in on getting Thurmon to campus.
Clemson, Georgia Tech, LSU and South Carolina are the four programs recruiting him the hardest, Thurmon told On3 earlier this month. There’s also been buzz that ahead of his official visits, the Tigers are the team out front.
The LSU “Flip” Candidates
Another offensive line target came off the board this past week when Blake Ivy committed to Texas A&M.
The Tigers have also seen other longtime targets get on board with SEC schools, including Weston Davis to Texas A&M, Marcus Mascoll to Florida and Casey Poe to Alabama.
Could LSU flip any current commitments from other programs? It’s worth monitoring to see if contact continues with the aforementioned (or others) given prospects like Davis were among the top targets for the staff this cycle.
There’s also the chance the Tigers could hand out new offers as prospects play out their senior seasons this fall. That could mean new names surface, or perhaps LSU circles back around to targets that had been on the verge of an offer, like Mississippi’s Ziron Brown, who is currently committed to Stanford.
For now, the Tigers are moving forward with four offensive line commitments. But with Jordan Seaton and Elyjah Thurmon set to make official visits in Baton Rouge, and the chance at either a flip or a new offer going out, it won’t be a surprise to see Davis finish out the cycle with a fifth offensive lineman.
