LSU moving up the list for Top 100 DB Ondre Evans

2024 Nashville (Tenn.) CPA defensive back Ondre Evans is already a Top 100 prospect for On3 and showed why at LSU Elite Camp on Wednesday.

Working with LSU defensive backs coach Robert Steeples, he got a chance to improve on his craft and build a relationship with him. The Tigers offered last week.

“It was a good experience going against the best people in Louisiana and the best people around the nation. It was real fun and I feel like I competed real good,” Evans told On3. “I showed I can play man, that I can run and I can do good under pressure.

“It was good working with coach Steeples. He taught me some things and I applied what I learned yesterday and today with my 1-on-1s.”

LSU head coach Brian Kelly made his way down to where Evans was working and pulled him aside for a chat. The official visit Kelly was asking for now looks like it’ll happen next weekend.

“It was a good chat with Brian Kelly,” he said. “He was telling me that I had a 100 percent committable offer and that he’s really interested in me and I need to come back for an official visit. It’s gonna happen, but I just don’t know when.”

Before the season starts, he plans to have a decision made, but will also be okay taking it to the fall, he told On3’s Chad Simmons. Michigan will host him for an official visit this weekend. Alabama, Georgia and Michigan are also in the mix for him.

His visit to Baton Rouge really impressed overall, putting the Tigers squarely in the mix for him.

“It moved them up a lot, I can say that for sure.”

On3 ranks Evans as the No. 84 overall prospect in the nation, No. 12 cornerback in the country and No. 1 prospect in Tennessee.
