LSU hands out new offers as HS football season begins

The LSU football staff is two weeks out from the season opener against Florida State, but the Tigers are also still busy recruiting for the future.

Over the past 48 hours, the Tigers have handed out new out-of-state scholarship offers to a pair of prospects.

The verbal offers from LSU’s staff come as high school football seasons are beginning around the country.

The Tigers kicked off the weekend with an offer to a sophomore receiver in South Florida, and by Sunday, LSU had offered an edge rusher out of North Carolina.

Here’s the rundown on the latest recruits to be offered by the Tigers.

Bryce Davis – 4-star EDGE – 6-2.5, 245 pounds

The Rundown: Davis is a name recruiting fans should get familiar with. He’s nearing 30 college offers as his junior season begins at Grimsley High in Greensboro. The four-star landed a verbal scholarship from LSU on Sunday, with the Tigers becoming the eighth SEC program to join the mix. With four visits made to Duke over the past year, the Blue Devils hold the early On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) lead. Clemson and South Carolina both got Davis to campus twice this offseason, while Georgia and Florida hosted him this summer. With an offer now under his belt, LSU will look to get Davis in for a home game this fall.

Calvin Russell – WR – 6-4, 176 pounds

The Rundown: Russell is just beginning his sophomore season, but he’s already grabbed the attention of the Big 3 in the Sunshine State with offers from Florida, Florida State and Miami. LSU offered on Friday, and the Tigers were his fourth offer from an SEC program – joining the Gators, Auburn and Arkansas. The two-sport standout at Miami-Northwestern becomes the ninth wide receiver from the 2026 class to earn an offer from the Tigers, and the third from the state of Florida.
