LSU Fall Camp: Week 2 schedule and storylines to watch
LSU’s fall camp continues on Monday morning after a recovery day on Sunday, setting up for a time where everything will be ramped up for Brian Kelly’s team. The expectations are clear and the Tigers have locked in as they continue to prepare for the 2024 season. With much more time for the media to view practices, there’s a real opportunity to gain some clarity over some of the bigger questions lingering around this team entering 2024 this week.
Here’s the upcoming schedule for the week and three things that I’m looking forward to seeing this week as we watch practice unfold and get to talk to the coaching staff and players.

Storylines to watch in Week 2

A better showing from Nussmeier
I’ve been at the forefront of the Nuss Buss since 2021 and that has not changed through one and a half media viewing sessions — Garrett Nussmeier is going to be very good this year. With that being said, it was not a great start to his fall camp the past few days and now I’m excited to see how he bounces back. I could tell at times he was just trying things to see what worked with this new receiver corps, but with those mistakes out of the way, it would speak to his maturity if he rebounded strong, cleaning up the interceptions and putting together a strong week of practices to show the rest of the team that he is ready to ball out from the opening kickoff.
More movement in the secondary?
I’m interested to see if Sage Ryan sticks at cornerback, especially as a starter. Does Javien Toviano begin to work his way back into the two-deep after being limited through the first few practices? We still don’t know how long it will take Zy Alexander to get back to 100 percent. I expect PJ Woodland to continue to fight and work his way up the depth chart. All of that is just at the cornerback spot.
When you get to the safety spot for LSU, I’m really curious to see if Jordan Allen holds onto the starting safety spot for the next three weeks. We know about Dashawn Spears and Kylin Jackson’s potential and if Allen can continue to fend them off, he’ll have earned it. it feels like there’s going to be plenty of shaking up the secondary in the coming weeks as pads come on.
More competition!
This is really what I’m excited to see, the first couple of practices had some 11 on 11 and 7 on 7, but noe nearly as much as there will be as fall camp continues. There are still a lot of fundamentals being taught right now, which is great, but this week I want to see more 1-on-1 competition so we can really get a look at which players are looking to set the tone. The 7-on-7 and full scrimmages will give us a much clearer picture as to what this team is and I’m excited to help paint a clearer picture this week.
