LSU caps off spring ball with impressive highlight video
LSU is entering their second year under head coach Brian Kelly, and it’s safe to say there’s plenty of excitement surrounding their program. The Tigers just wrapped up their spring practices in Baton Rouge and on Sunday afternoon, they decided to drop a video recapping some of the highlights from their spring game.
Check out the video below from LSU football.
The biggest highlight from Saturday afternoon’s game of course, was Kyren Lacy’s one-handed grab. He led all receivers on Saturday with four catches for 92 receiving yards and a touchdown. LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels looked comfortable, completing 10 of 11 passes for 168 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns. Daniels is blessed with an electrifying skill set and should be poised for yet another big year in his second year under Brian Kelly.
Wide receiver Brian Thomas, Jr. hauled in three catches for 66 receiving yards and a touchdown. Harold Perkins was credited with half a sack. He’s been one of the most dominant players in the country since his days as a high school star and he did not disappoint last season. He earned freshman All-American honors from multiple media outlets last year. Perkins should be a star to watch every single time he sets foot on the field for the Tigers.
LSU is coming off an exciting 2022 season in which they finished with a 10-4 overall record. They capped off the year with a 63-7 obliteration of the Purdue Boilermakers in the Citrus Bowl.
More on Kyren Lacy, LSU Tigers Spring Game
Continuing, Brian Kelly took some time to speak with the SEC Network crew before LSU’s Spring Game on Saturday.
Among many things, one of the hot topics was quarterback Jayden Daniels. After a successful first season in Baton Rouge, Kelly explained what his signal caller has improved upon this spring.
“Well I think technically, pushing the ball down the field, being more aggressive with the football,” explained Kelly. “I thought at times last year, he kind of didn’t look to be more aggressive with some things. He didn’t want to make mistakes. I think he’s at that point now where he sees things a lot clearer, and he’s being more aggressive.
“He’s put on some weight. You can see already in his arms. His body is a bit different. That’s just maturity.”
As for the Tigers playmakers, Kelly has been pleased with a bevy of them, naming some of his wide receivers, running backs and tight ends by name ahead of Saturday’s activities.
“[Mason] Taylor, [Malik] Nabers, [Brian] Thomas has had a really good spring. Kyren Lacy,” stated Kelly. “I think that there’s plenty of guys there that are going to be able to surround him and make him make plays. At the running back position, Noah Cain has been really good.
“So I think there’s plenty of obviously play-makers in this league, and you’re going to need them in this league, that’s for sure.”
LSU kicks off their 2023 campaign against the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday, Sept. 3. The game will be played in Orlando, Florida.
