LSU 5-star+ WR Dakorien Moore commit clears the air
5-star+ wide receiver Dakorien Moore committed to LSU on August 12, 2023, giving the Tigers a verbal pledge from the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2025 class.
Eight months later, Moore has made multiple return visits to Baton Rouge as a key piece to LSU’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class on On3.
There’s also been buzz around Texas after the in-state Longhorns, once considered the early team to beat, got Moore onto campus most recently for the program’s Junior Day weekend.
Now, Moore is clearing the air on where things stand, telling On3’s Chad Simmons he remains firm with his verbal pledge to LSU.
“It’s always been home, man,” Moore said. “When I committed there from the start it was just the relationships that I built there. It was real genuine and I feel like I can trust them in the moment and stuff like that. That, on top of them being wide receiver U, they were producing some of the best wide receivers that’s in the league right now.
“(LSU wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator) Cortez Hankton, I feel like me and him relate a lot. Me and him got the same birthday, so we share a lot of similarities. I see how he coaches, I like the way he coaches, he’s on the grind so I want to be a part of that.”
Growing up, Moore said he fell in love with LSU’s wide receivers who went on to the NFL, circling Odell Beckham Jr. as his favorite player growing up.
Now, as the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver and a Top 5 overall prospect regardless of position, Moore hasn’t lost sight of why he committed to the Tigers ahead of his junior season at Duncanville High in Dallas.
“I’ve been wanting to play there since I was little, so you can’t change my dream,” Moore said.
As Moore continues to take campus visits, including expected trips to colleges like Ohio State and Oregon, hat would it take to flip Moore from LSU?
“I really can’t put it into words. I’m really just seeing what everybody else has got to offer,” Moore said.
“Of course, what LSU showed me got me to commit, so that’s where I’m at, but I’m really just seeing the little things piece by piece, seeing what everybody else has got to show me.”
While Moore is expected to make visits while committed to LSU, the weapons the Tigers have added around the 5-star have his attention in a big way – and it’s a group that includes two more 5-stars in the No. 1 quarterback and overall prospect Bryce Underwood and the No. 1 running back Harlem Berry.
“It helps me because it means they see the same things I see,” Moore said. “We’ve all got the same grind, we all want to win, be a part of that Bayou thing.”
