Louisiana S Anthony Robinson discussing possible Miami Hurricanes official visit
Roughly three months after becoming one of Lance Guidry’s first Miami offers after becoming the Hurricanes’ new defensive coordinator, Destrehan (La.) 2024 safety Anthony Robinson is discussing a potential official visit to Coral Gables.
Robinson, a three-star prospect and the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 474 overall recruit in the class, has become a top target for programs like Notre Dame, Ole Miss, TCU and Miami over the last several months. On3’s Sam Spiegelman reported May 1 that Robinson’s buzz had largely centered around Notre Dame and Ole Miss (the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Ole Miss as the 98.6% favorite to land the 6-foot-2, 190-pound safety), but Miami is holding his attention.
“(Guidry) has been talking to me, telling me he’s got to get me down (to Coral Gables) at some point over the summer,” Robinson said. “I’ve been talking to TCU about an official visit in the summer… but I could possibly give an official visit to Miami as well.”
Robinson said he talks to Notre Dame and Ole Miss the most even though he continues to hear from the Canes. Guidry told Robinson he “definitely” plans to fly to Louisiana to check up on him at Destrehan sometime during the evaluation period either to watch a practice or attend his spring game.
Ole Miss has already made several trips to Destrehan, and Notre Dame dropped in Wednesday. The Irish told him they plan to return to Louisiana again later this month.
Robinson discussed dates to possibly visit Miami in June but is waiting to see how the schedule shakes out. He added they’ll likely discuss an official visit more in depth when Guidry stops by Louisiana to check up on him likely later this month.
“We’ve talked about it a couple of times,” Robinson said. “He asked me if I wanted to take one, and I said ‘yeah.’ And then we talked about the dates on when to go, so we’ve discussed it a few times.”
The three-star prospect plans to announce his official visits “either in late May or early June, or something like that.”
He holds an On3 NIL Valuation of $28k.
CaneSport’s Take
We haven’t seen the surge in Louisiana recruiting in the 2024 class some of us thought we may after Miami added Guidry, a Louisiana native with strong Cajun ties, but Robinson has remained a prospect the Canes have continued to quietly monitor. It feels like much of his Miami recruitment now depends on whether or not Guidry ends up making a visit to his school during the evaluation period.
If he does, Ole Miss and Notre Dame would likely remain the leaders, but it would give the Canes a chance at the three-star prospect. If Guidry doesn’t make the trip out, it may be time to scratch Robinson off the list.
