Louisiana 4-star schedules Texas official visit

The Texas Longhorns have signed an On3 Industry Ranking 4-star prospect or better out of the state of Louisiana in each of the last two classes.

Steve Sarkisian and Terry Joseph are trying to make it a third straight, and will now be hosting one of the states best in June.

John Ehret cornerback Wardell Mack told Inside Texas Friday night that he has locked in an official visit for the Longhorns big weekend June 23-25.

The news of Mack scheduling the official visit comes on the heels of Mack and his mother attending the Texas spring game April 15.

The Longhorns understand they are in an uphill battle against LSU to pull the states top cornerback prospect out of the Pelican State. The Tigers are a big leader in the On3 RPM headed into May.

The 6-foot-0.5, 175-pounder with 33-inch arms also has the Florida Gators square in the mix with Corey Raymond leading the charge. The No. 75 ranked prospect in the On3 Industry ranking will make an official visit to Gainesville June 16-18, the weekend before Texas.

Wardell Mack On3 Personal Life Feature

Reggie Rogers has seen some talented players during his coaching career, especially in his time at Marrero (Louisiana) John Ehret. So, it speaks volumes when he gushes about Wardell Mack. “We use Wardell all over because he is such a dynamic athlete,” Rogers told NOLA.com. “We just let him play and make plays. He’s one of those athletes that’s effortless in everything he does. He makes coaches look a lot smarter.” Mack plays receiver, cornerback and special teams for Ehret and has accumulated more than 1,000 yards of total offense through his junior and sophomore seasons. He also had 55 tackles and four interceptions in 2021. Along with his playmaking ability, Mack has 33-inch arms and “outstanding length.” Away from football, Mack says he enjoys working out and playing video games. His parents are Rhonda and Warren Mack.
