Longhorns Sunday Recruiting Intel: Xavier Filsaime & more
The Texas Longhorns had more than three dozen unofficial visitors at The Cotton Bowl Saturday for the Red River Showdown.
One of those included the latest offer made in the 2024 cycle. Inside Texas broke the news Friday afternoon that On3 Industry Ranking 5-star safety and Florida commitment Xavier Filsaime was scheduled to be at the game Saturday.
While Filsaime was in transit from McKinney to the game Saturday, Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon made a call to the Gators commit and extended an offer.
With the offer in hand, Inside Texas provides the latest intel on Filsaime and top 2025 linebacker target Riley Pettijohn.
Texas’ chances with Xavier Filsaime?
It’s too early to say for sure what the chances of Texas flipping Filsaime actually are. A lot of that could be dependent on the Florida Gators season. If Florida struggles the remainder of the way, and the natives continue to get restless – it could have an impact according to a source close to the recruitment.
What Inside Texas is going to do today is provide a run down of what to know with Filsaime as the Texas staff truly dives into the recruitment.
Filsaime is originally from Florida. He moved to McKinney in the sixth grade.
He lives with his father in McKinney. His mother still lives and works in the Orlando area.
Playing college football in Florida or Texas are the two scenarios.
Texas just offered, and have not begun talking about an official visit or attending a game in Austin yet. The Longhorns just know the interest on their part is being reciprocated.
LSU and Georgia have remained in contact with Filsaime since his commitment, and during the season.
He is scheduled to attend the Florida State at Florida game November 25.
Filsaime made June official visits to Florida (June 2-4) and Georgia (June 16-18).
He committed to the Gators April 13, 2023.
Texas and Riley Pettijohn
There were a quartet of McKinney High prospects sitting together Saturday in The Cotton Bowl. One of those was a top linebacker target in the 2025 cycle.
On3 Industry Ranking 4-star Riley Pettijohn was in the stands for the raucous environment. According to a source close to the recruitment, the Longhorns are in a pretty spot early on. Linebackers coach Jeff Choate has built a solid relationship with Pettijohn, and family members.
Texas is joined by Florida State, Florida, USC and a couple of others as being mentioned the most. The Seminoles, Gators, Trojans and others realize Texas has a good shot early on here.
