Local CB Isaiah Rubin returns to USC for a great visit as he nears his commitment

Los Alamitos (Calif.) cornerback Isaiah Rubin was back at USC Saturday night to see the Trojans defeat Arizona in triple overtime. Lincoln Riley‘s program moved to 7-0 in front of the USC target. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound three-star was taking in his second game inside the Colesium and he liked what he saw.

“The atmosphere was amazing,” Rubin told On3. “There was nothing but great fans that love their team in attendance. I loved being a part of it and I had a great time.”

It was Rubin’s second game and fourth overall visit to USC. The Trojans offered Rubin back in January. Things really started to heat up between him and the local program late in the spring.

Now with a commitment date set for Oct. 20, USC is a finalist up against Colorado, Oregon and Utah. The interest is strong.

“USC is very high in my recruitment. I feel great about USC. It feels like home and growing up a USC fan with my dad makes my interest even bigger. It is like a family at USC and they treat me like I am already part of the team. Family is a big thing for me in my recruitment.”

Defensive backs coach Donte Williams is a big factor. He is as close to Rubin as anyone on the USC staff. Those two have a relationship that goes beyond football and that could help the Trojans close out this recruitment.

“Me and Coach Donte’s relationship is very strong,” Rubin said. “It’s only going to continue to grow stronger as we come up to my commitment day. I like everything about Coach Donte. He helps me with everything. I may need help with football. I can come to him with any questions and he’ll answer.”

Rubin does not have any future visits scheduled. He has yet to take any official visits.
