Live Updates: Tennessee goes for series sweep over Vanderbilt in Sunday matinee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee baseball is back in action Sunday afternoon at Hawkins Field against Vanderbilt, eyeing a series sweep for the sixth time this season and third time in Southeastern Conference play.
Tony Vitello’s bunch enters Sunday tied with Kentucky for the lead in the SEC Baseball standings.
The No. 1 Vols (42-9, 19-7 SEC) have won nine-straight over the Commodores (33-18, 11-15 SEC) as Vanderbilt has lost seven-straight league contests. UT is going for the third-straight sweep over Vanderbilt and the second time on the road since 2009.
Lefty Zander Sechrist (1-0, 4.14 ERA) will get the ball for the Volunteers while fellow lefty JD Thompson (3-1, 3.69 ERA) will start for Vanderbilt. Tennessee plated five runs in the eighth inning to capture game one of the series 8-4 on Friday while Christian Moore drove in five runs during UT’s 7-6 victory in game tow on Saturday.
