Live Updates: Tennessee eyes series-win over No. 4 Vanderbilt Saturday afternoon
Tennessee hopes to keep the momentum rolling from a thrilling game one victory and carry it over into game two as the Vols host the Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday at noon with a series-victory on the line.
Kavares Tears and Dylan Drieling each hit solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the ballgame at 3-3 on Friday and then Griffin Merritt walked it off for the Volunteers (24-14, 6-10 SEC) with a solo blast in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the ballgame 4-3. Chase Burns picked up the win, tossing three innings of relief and totaling seven strikeouts.
Vanderbilt (29-9, 13-3 SEC) will turn to right-hander Bryce Cunningham (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to try in draw even while the Vols give the ball to Chase Dollander (4-4, 4.18 ERA) with hopes of securing the series-win. The game will be televised on ESPN 2.
