Live Updates: Tennessee aims to even series with Alabama on Friday
Tennessee and Alabama are back at it Friday evening from Sewell-Thomas Stadium for the second of a three-game series in Southeastern Conference play.
The No. 12 Crimson Tide (22-1, 4-0 SEC) held on for the series-opening win on Thursday with a 6-5 victory. Alabama plated five runs in the second inning against the top-ranked Vols (20-2, 3-1 SEC), though Tennessee added runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the deficit to one run.
UT starting second baseman Gavin Kilen remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Dean Curley shifts down to third base, Manny Marin over to second and Arial Antigua will start at shortstop for the Vols.
Right-handed hurler, and reigning SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week, Marcus Phillips (2-0, 1.04 ERA) gets the nod for Tennessee while fellow righty Riley Quick (4-0, 1.33 ERA) will counter for the Crimson Tide.
Up Next: Tennessee and Alabama meet for the series-finale Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock eastern time from Sewell-Thomas Stadium.
