Live Updates: No. 1 Vols eye series win over Vanderbilt in Game 2 of series
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee baseball is back in action Saturday afternoon in the state’s capital as the Vols go for the series win over Vanderbilt at Hawkins Field. The first pitch for game two of the series is set for 3 o’clock eastern time and will be televised on the SEC Network.
No. 1 Tennessee (41-9, 18-7 SEC) took game one behind a five-run eighth inning when both Kavares Tears and Cannon Peebles sent two-run homers over the outfield fence. The Vols have now won eight-straight over the Commodores (33-17, 11-14 SEC) for the first time since 1993-1995.
Right-handed veteran Drew Beam (6-2, 3.39 ERA) will make the start for the Vols with a chance to win the series while lefty Carter Holton (6-3, 4.88 ERA) will pitch for Vanderbilt. The Commodores have now lost six-straight games in league play.
