Live From The Crib: Miami commit Joshisa Trader and target Jeremiah Smith preview Georgia Tech matchup

Under the Friday night lights at Dillard High School, Miami Hurricane commit Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna 2024 four-star receiver Joshisa Trader and current Ohio State commit and Miami target Jeremiah Smith may have shined the brightest throughout the contest.

In the Lion’s 55-20 win over Dillard, Trader led the way offensively for Chaminade-Madonna with two receiving touchdowns, while Smith hauled in a touchdown of his own, as well as a pair of two-point conversions.

“It felt great, and we came out explosive out of the gate,” Trader told CaneSport. “We started off slow, but we kept it up, and every drive we scored after that.”

“It felt great to come out and get a great team win,” Smith said. “We came out with more energy in the second half than the last couple of games we played, so I felt good about this one.”

Following their big performances Friday night, both Trader and Smith will be on hand at Hard Rock Stadium for Miami’s ACC opener against Georgia Tech on Saturday evening.

“I really want to see the offense; that’s really it,” Smith said. “They’ve been showing stuff all year, so that’s really it. I just want to see the offense.”

Along with Smith and Trader in the Hurricanes recruiting section, there will be a handful of elite wideouts from the 2024, 2025, and 2026 classes as well. Some of the elite pass catchers expected to attend are Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County 2024 four-star wide receiver Ny Carr, Tampa Bay Tech (Fla.) four-star 2025 Oregon commit receiver Dallas Wilson, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinal Newman 2025 four-star receiver Naeshaun Montgomery, and Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Monarch High School 2026 four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady.

A big reason for that is Hurricanes wide receiver coach Kevin Beard, who has been extremely active on the recruiting trail since he arrived in Coral Gables in the spring.

“He’s starting off good you know,” Trader said. “He communicates well from all the other coaches like that, and he’s a great coach. He’s doing something for the U.”

Smith is also a big fan of Beard and has caught wind that the Hurricanes may land a top wide receiver prospect very soon.

“Coach KB is a great coach, like JoJo said,” Smith added. “He cares about the people he’s recruiting. I heard Miami was supposed to be getting a commit this week; I can’t say who, but I heard that for sure.”

Trader’s final message to any wide receiver prospect considering Miami?

“The U is back baby,” he exclaimed.
