GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After winning their first SEC road series, the Florida Gators are back home against Georgia Southern. It’s the first of a four-game homestand for UF this week.

Florida and Georgia Southern face off for the first time since 2013 in their 15th all-time matchup on Tuesday. Sophomore Alex Philpott gets the start for the Gators on the mound.

The Gators scored three runs on four hits, including two straight RBI singles by Justin Nadeau Bobby Boser. Philpott allows two hits but tosses his third K to end the frame and strand both runners.

End of 1st: Florida 0, Georgia Southern 0

Brendan Lawson and Luke Heyman, who started at first base, hit back-to-back singles but were left stranded. Florida pitcher Alex Philpott struck out two after giving up a leadoff double.
