The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have been one of the most dominant teams in all of college baseball for the 2023 campaign. The Demon Deacons earned the No. 1 overall seed heading into the 2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Deacs throttled George Mason on Friday in their first game of the tournament, 12-0. On Saturday night, the Demon Deacons were set to face off against the Maryland Terrapins in their second game of the Winston Salem Regional. It’s going to have to wait, as there was a lightning strike within 12 miles of David F. Couch Ballpark in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Check out the announcement below from the Wake Forest Baseball Twitter page.
“There was just a lightning strike within 12 miles of David F. Couch Ballpark. Following a decision by the NCAA, and agreed upon by both programs, we will remain in a delay.”
The announcement was posted at 6:10 PM EST. More information will be provided by their Twitter page soon. Wake had two players make the 2023 All-ACC Tournament Team: pitcher Rhett Lowder and first baseman Nick Kurtz.
