Legacy 2027 EDGE David Jacobs Jr. gets different look at Georgia

Roswell (Ga.) 2027 edge David Jacobs Jr. got a unique look into one of his early childhood stomping grounds on Saturday.

Jacobs spent Saturday watching Georgia defeat UAB 49-21 in Sanford Stadium. It was his first time at a Georgia game as a recruit. Jacobs camped at Georgia this summer ahead of his freshman year at Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell.

He’s been in the stands as a fan as his father David Jacobs Sr. has made his way back to his alma mater multiple times throughout the younger Jacobs’ lifetime. The elder Jacobs played on the defensive line for the Bulldogs under former head coach Mark Richt.

“That was a great experience on Saturday,” Jacobs said. “It was something different. It was the first time I’d been on the field for an actual game. I really enjoyed it.”

On Saturday, the love for the Jacobs’ family was still evident. Jacobs recalls multiple fans stopping the family during the visit. That experience of watching fans interact with his father as well as the entire family was something that stood out to the younger Jacobs throughout the day.

“Fans did recognize me and my but mainly my dad,” Jacobs said. “It was really cool to interact with them.”

David Jacobs taking in Georgia as a recruit

The younger Jacobs soaked up the day as a recruit. Georgia has not offered him yet but Jacobs has quickly developed into a key piece of Blessed Trinity’s team and camped at Georgia during the summer. The Bulldogs have shown a fair share of early interest in the 6-foot-5, 200-pound edge.

Saturday was another opportunity to begin getting familiar with the Georgia coaching staff.

“I had a couple of chats with the coaches,” Jacobs said. “What stood out was how they walk over and say hello to you individually, not in like a group.”

The Bulldogs’ staff has already made an impression on Jacobs.

“I love the Georgia coaching staff, they’re great people and very nice coaches,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs watched the game intently throughout on Saturday. The Bulldogs as a team stood out. The atmosphere also caught Jacobs’ attention.

“I thought it was really cool watching Georgia work as a unit,” Jacobs said. “The ‘Dawg Walk’ is something that I liked a lot as well. I really enjoyed seeing the fans cheer on the players. It really shows how it’s not just during the game but they also show love outside the game. It was really intense (atmosphere).
