Latest on Danny Okoye, Kobe Black, and an updated Texas-Rice visitor list
Inside Texas takes a look at the latest from Danny Okoye, Kobe Black, Zina Umeozulu, and adds new names to the Texas-Rice recruiting visitor list in Tuesday’s intel.
Danny Okoye, EDGE, Tulsa (Okla.) NOAH Homeschool
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound On3 four-star and Texas are connecting multiple times a week at this stage. Okoye talks to Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwaitkowski and linebacker coach Jeff Choate. Now Steve Sarkisian is reaching out to the EDGE prospect.
Okoye will be in Austin for the Texas-Wyoming contest on September 16th, then will visit Tennessee on September 30th. At this time, the Vols appear to hold the early edge, but Okoye insists he’s eager to return to Austin after a strong official visit last June.
Kobe Black, CB, Waco (Texas) Connally
While Black and his Connally teammates prepare for their battle with rival La Vega on Friday, he’s still insisting his decision will go into December. He’s looking primarily at Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and LSU, but Black had originally told Inside Texas a visit to Oregon could also be in the works.
Sources tells IT that the Eugene visit is less likely at this stage. Texas has set the best foundation in this recruitment, and just need to stay the course with the On3 Industry Ranking five-star.
Zina Umeozulu, EDGE, Allen (Texas)
As Inside Texas reported this morning, the On3 four-star and brother of Texas offensive lineman Neto Umeozulu will take an unofficial visit to Austin for the Texas-Rice game on Saturday.
Zina is still hearing from a number of schools, notably Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon, and Texas A&M. He’d like to have a decision during his senior season but doesn’t appear in any hurry to do so.
