Cy Fair 2025 defensive lineman Landon Rink has been on campus at the University of Texas as much or more than any prospect in the state.
The son of Cy Fair defensive line coach and former Texas defensive lineman Shane Rink grew up Texas Longhorns, as one would expect.
Now, the 6-foot-2 and 265-pound versatile defensive lineman is getting into the meat of his own recruiting process. And the offer list includes Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Oregon, Notre Dame and six more Power 5’s.
For Rink, the process this summer is all about defensive line coaches and relationship building. And a big check mark is being made by Bo Davis.
“I’ve been there a lot, but this is second time working with Coach Bo (Davis). He’s real and he’s genuine. I like that. He’s going to coach me hard when I make a mistake, but tell me when I do well too. He’s real.”
With trips scheduled to Texas A&M June 8, Oklahoma June 15 and return trip to Texas later this month, time spent with defensive line coaches will be very impactful moving forward.
“i want to go on these visits, and see how the coaches coach. How they teach, and what they are correcting. I just want to build relationships.”
Texas leaves zero doubt that Rink is wanted in Austin
Rink talked to both Bo Davis and Steve Sarkisian at various points Saturday. In fact, Davis and Rink talked after the drive back to Cypress began.
“I talked to him (Davis) after we left. He asked what we have to do to get him at Texas. I said I don’t know yet. He said I can make a difference at Texas.”
Rink sees a fit in the defensive scheme.
“I think the scheme fits me very well because I can play everywhere on the inside. Coach Bo (Davis) said his guys can play everywhere. That’s what I already do at Cy Fair.”
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and Rink had a conversation after the camp on the field.
“I talked to him on the field after the camp. He said they want me, and I can make an impact in the program. They want me to keep coming to see them.”
Youth league reunion Saturday
Landon Rink grew up in Cedar Hill with his father part of the Longhorns staff prior to accepting a job at Cy Fair High. He played on what now looks to be one loaded youth league football team. And Saturday was a team reunion. Two of those former teammates are among the best in the country at their positions in the 2025 cycle – Tiger Riden and Dakorien Moore.
The youth ball reunion went deeper than just the two Texas targets from powerhouse programs.
“I was in youth league with Kelden Ryan too. He was our quarterback. Dilan Battle too. A lot of guys that are at DeSoto and Duncanville now. We all played together growing up.”
Rink’s timeline remains a decision likely going into his senior season, as of today. Rink was named 17-6A unanimous first-team as a sophomore.
