Kyle Busch calls out Brad Keselowski for Michigan overtime move
Kyle Busch called out Brad Keselowski on X following Monday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
On the overtime restart, Keselowski strangely slowed up as he entered Turn 1. Keselowski, running on the outside line behind William Byron, backed into Busch’s front end, sending an accordion like effect through the field.
Busch is still wondering “what the fu*k” Keselowski was doing.
“What the fu*k was the 6 doing?!,” Busch tweeted.
Keselowski’s issue not only stacked up the outside line behind him but killed the momentum Byron had going into corner. That allowed Tyler Reddick to clear Byron on the inside and take the checkered flag a lap later.
Keselowski, who came out with a P5 finish, said he was having engine problems all day, which could explain his issue off the restart.
“We just had a couple of issues today with the engine shutting off,” Keselowski said after the race, via Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “It was frustrating, but it was just part of our day. We were probably that fourth or fifth-place car, and the way the race played out, [Reddick] got by us, and he was really fast. He deserved to win the race.
“We were in position, but we just really couldn’t make anything count. I am really proud of our effort. It was really good execution today and a little more speed than we have had. We just need one more step to be able to win these races.”
Kyle Busch picks up best finish in months at Michigan
Busch rallied to a fourth-place finish, his first top-five since Dover back in April. The two-time Cup Series champion, who felt he had a sixth or seventh place car, came away overall pleased with his “overachieving” performance.
“That was definitely maybe a little overachieving,” Busch told Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “Felt like a couple guys behind us were a little faster. We were probably about a sixth, seventh place car there at the end but we had the track position on them, so we held them off and was able to get a spot there on that final restart. Good day for the Lucas Oil Chevrolet and everybody on this RCR team.”
