Kim Mulkey takes victory lap after MiLaysia Fulwiley transfer

After former South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley officially announced she is transferring to LSU on Friday, Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey didn’t hesitate to take a victory lap on social media. Shortly after Fulwiley’s announcement, Mulkey posted a GIF of her and the 2022-23 national championship team dancing.
Fulwiley will look to bring another title to Baton Rouge. Fulwiley spent two seasons at South Carolina, where she amassed 77 appearances and back-to-back trips to the National Championship, including a win in the 2023-24 season.
Fulwiley averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this past season while shooting 42.6% from the field and 25.8% from beyond the arc. For her efforts, she was named an All-SEC Second-Team selection and was the conference’s Sixth Woman of the Year.
She also reeled in numerous accomplishments for her standout debut campaign. She was a member of the All-SEC Freshman Team and won the 2024 SEC Tournament MVP Award.
Kim Mulkey knows about Fulwiley’s talents all too well. Fulwiley is 3-0 against the Tigers in her collegiate career and scored 24 points in the Gamecocks’ win over LSU in the 2024 SEC Tournament Championship.
Along with the addition of Fulwiley, LSU will return guards Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams next season. The Tigers posted a 31-6 record this past season. They ultimately fell 72-65 to UCLA in the Elite Eight.
