Keyon Martin injury: Louisiana CB stretchered off field after scary collision vs. Texas State

A scary scene unfolded shortly before halftime of the LouisianaTexas State game in San Marcos on Tuesday night, as Ragin’ Cajuns cornerback Keyon Martin was stretchered off the field after an apparently severe head/neck injury.

Martin came down from his spot in the secondary to make a tackle on a Texas State ball carrier in the final minute of the first half. As he closed on his target, Martin lowered his head and absorbed collision, immediately collapsing to the ground after.

Trainers quickly motioned for the cart to come out for Martin.

As trainers tended to Martin, he was strapped down to a stabilizing board, a common practice with potential head and neck injuries to keep the spine and neck from shifting. After a lengthy delay of around 10 minutes, Martin was eventually placed on a stretcher and rolled of the field on that.
