Key recruiting targets to watch during Florida State-LSU game in Orlando

Key recruiting targets to watch during Florida State-LSU game in Orlando

Approximately 30 Florida State targets are expected to be in attendance at the showdown between No. 5 LSU and No. 8 Florida State this Sunday in Orlando.

The majority of them are committed to FSU (or other schools), however some big names who are still wide open are eager to check out the Seminoles in person. Here’s a look at some of the biggest targets expected to be in attendance.

Four-Star DB Jamari Howard

Howard is one of the most important prospects left for Florida State in the 2024 cycle. Landing him could secure FSU the best secondary class in the country.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Howard is the 15th-best corner in the country as well as the 20th-best prospect in Florida. He last visited Florida State for the Seminole Showcase elite camp at the end of July. During that visit, he hung out with FSU defensive back commit Ricky Knight a good amount, and Knight told Warchant after the visit that he thought the Seminoles would land the coveted target.

Howard has since told On3’s director of recruiting, Chad Simmons, that he will now likely take his decision all the way to signing day.

The five schools still in the running for Howard are Florida State, Florida, Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State. However, FSU and UF both have a huge advantage being in-state.

2025 Four-Star LB Jadon Perlotte (UGA Commit)

Perlotte committed to Georgia very early in his recruitment, but there is still a long way to go. There has been widespread speculation that the linebacker will actually flip to Florida State, and a strong performance in this game could be the final domino.

The four-star prospect from Buford, Ga., has been vocal about wanting to play in college with Buford teammate and five-star Florida State DB commit KJ Bolden, who will also be at the game. Spending time with Bolden at the game can only help the Seminoles’ chances.

2025 Four-Star DB Chris Ewald (Michigan Commit)

The four-star defensive back last visited Florida State for the elite camp in June, and he seemed to enjoy the way the coaching staff treated everyone in the locker room.

“I love what they bring to the table, and I love the way they treat their players …,” Ewald said. “They treat you how they recruit you. So when you do get here, nothing changes. Same energy. I like that.”

Florida State is also very active with trying to flip a pair of Ewald’s teammates at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna — five-star receiver Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State) and four-star DB Zaquan Patterson, who recently committed to Miami. A strong performance in Orlando could help with Ewald, and perhaps all of those recruitments.

2025 Five-Star DL Armondo Blount

Blount last visited Florida State in July, and before that, he visited during the spring. Both visits to Tallahassee seemed to make a huge impression on the highly ranked prospect

“They’re high,” Blount said, when asked where the Seminoles stand.

The Miami Central product also stated that he felt like he was at home learning from FSU defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins during the Seminole Showcase camp.

People in Blount’s circle have also been known to support the Seminoles, so a promising start to the season in such a high-profile game could elevate Florida State even higher.

Here’s a complete list of the recruits expected to attend the LSU game.
