Kevin Willard addresses future at Maryland after season-ending loss: ‘I don’t know what I’m doing’
After Maryland’s season-ending loss to Florida on Thursday, Kevin Willard headed into his postgame press conference as one big question swirled. Would he be back in College Park next season?
He quickly got the question while speaking with reporters. Willard then gave a candid, honest response about weighing his next steps.
Willard told reporters he hasn’t had conversations with anyone about his future, whether it’s at Maryland or elsewhere. His name has been a hot one in the coaching carousel, particularly in connection with the Villanova job as rumors swirl, but he still doesn’t quite know what the future holds.
“I don’t know what I’m doing,” Willard said. “I’ll just be honest with you. I haven’t talked to my agent, I haven’t talked to my wife. I made a promise to this team that I was just going to focus on this team, and that’s all I’ve done.
“So I haven’t talked to anybody. I have an agent. I’m sure he’s talking to people, because that’s what agents like to do. But I don’t know.”
