Kevin Harvick has surprising stance on Denny Hamlin in NASCAR Playoffs Round of 8
Kevin Harvick had some interesting things to say about Denny Hamlin advancing to the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. On Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour, Harvick weighed in on Hamlin’s chances of making a run in the next three races and advancing to the Championship 4.
“When you look at Denny and you listen to his interview and everything that happened in the rest yesterday with the 45 (Tyler Reddick) running into him having the damage with the car, having the 45 get in the playoffs and having the 11 (Hamlin) car get in the playoffs, you could really hear the sense of relief that came from Denny Hamlin,” Harvick said. “When you heard him talk about those first two rounds of races and the dynamic that comes with all the unique racetracks that they had to go to, I feel like they’re going to run good at Vegas.
“I just don’t know that they have had the speed on that particular racetrack that the 5 (Kyle Larson) and the 45 have had. If you go back to the beginning of the year when we were at Las Vegas, we all felt that Tyler Reddick had the fastest car… Kyle Larson went and dominated most of the day and wound up putting the car in Victory Lane, but we felt like Tyler Reddick had the fastest car,” Harvick added.
Denny Hamlin has momentum heading into NASCAR playoffs Round of 8
“He just made some decisions at the end of the race and didn’t wind up going to Victory Lane. … I think that Denny will have good speed, I just don’t know that he’s gonna have that dominant speed that the couple of guys that we talked about are capable of actually happening.”
The next three races will be in Las Vegas, Martinsville and Miami, and Hamlin has won at all three tracks. And while Hamin hasn’t won a race since April, he has finished in the top 10 in three of the last four races. That said, Hamlin is sixth in the playoff standings, meaning he has some work to do if he wants to drive in the championship race next month.
