Kentucky’s Super Regional win sets new attendance record at Kentucky Proud Park

Take a bow, Big Blue Nation.

During Kentucky baseball’s Super Regional opener against Oregon State at Kentucky Proud Park, Wildcat fans helped set a new attendance record at the stadium. UK announced in the middle of the seventh inning that 7,441 total fans showed up to cheer on the Bat Cats on a warm and breezy Saturday night in Lexington.

More importantly, Kentucky shut out the Beavers 10-0 in the first matchup of the three-game series.

This is the third time this season that Kentucky Proud Park has set an attendance record. Back in April against the then-No. 4 ranked Tennessee Volunteers, the Big Blue Nation filled KPP with 6,922 fans during the series opener on Friday before breaking it again that Saturday with 7,304 fans.

Ahead of the SEC Tournament, UK decided to add an extra set of bleachers to add even more fans in anticipation of a deep postseason run for Kentucky. The state-of-the-art $49 million stadium looks even better when it’s filled with blue and white.

Kentucky now has a chance to secure a spot in the program’s first-ever Men’s College World Series with another win against Oregon State on Sunday. Can we get up to 7,500 fans for the biggest game in school history? You’ll need to keep the kids up a bit longer than usual — first pitch is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPNU.
