Kentucky softball’s Sunday home game vs. No. 16 Florida sold out
While some thunderstorms could slide in and rain on the parade, Sunday has the potential to be an especially fun day at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, KY.
When No. 23 Kentucky softball faces the No. 16 Florida Gators for a three-game series this weekend — the final one of the regular season for the Wildcats — the last contest on Sunday will take place in front of a sold-out crowd. UK announced the news on Thursday. Sunday’s game will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST on ESPN 2 with Eric Frede and Madison Shipman on the call.
This is the second sell-out of the season for Kentucky softball, which also sold out its matchup against No. 6 Tennessee back on Sunday, April 16. The Wildcats lost that game 15-1 in just five innings, so they’ll look to put on a better showing this time around for the Big Blue Nation against the Gators.
Kentucky softball is trending in the wrong direction as we inch closer to the postseason, but this weekend against a Top 25 Florida team provides a major opportunity for a bounce back. Rachel Lawson’s group is 28-8-1 on the season with an 8-13 mark in the SEC. UK has lost 11 of its previous 15 games after falling in game one of the series on Friday and hasn’t won an SEC series since taking two of three games against Ole Miss in early April.
If you’re interested in watching the ‘Cats this weekend, you can still purchase tickets for Saturday afternoon’s game, although there is only a very limited number left. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or UKathletics.com.
Additionally, a free courtesy shuttle will be operating all weekend that will take fans from surrounding parking lots near Kroger Field to John Cropp Stadium for no cost both before and after games. Now go cheer on those ‘Cats!
