Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham receives green room invite for 2024 NBA Draft

Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham receives green room invite for 2024 NBA Draft

Former Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham has received a green room invite to attend the NBA Draft with his family, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Dillingham completed his NBA Combine requirements at the Los Angeles Lakers practice facility this morning, allowing him to receive the invite.

Dillingham was previously unable to complete these requirements due to an ankle injury. The 6-foot-2 guard came in at No. 10 in On3’s James Fletcher III’s latest mock draft and was the No. 9 overall player on his updated Big Board ahead of the NBA Finals.

“Rob Dillingham is an electric scorer and probably the most NBA-ready offensive weapon in the draft class,” Fletcher wrote. “However, he is also among the least prepared for the nightly challenge of guarding professional guards. The 6-foot-2 guard came off the bench for Kentucky, shooting 44.4% from 3 and 47.5% overall. Whether he remains in a 6th-man role or emerges into a starting lineup, he looks primed to become the next Wildcat in this mold to star as a professional.

“Dillingham has started to fall from the list of potential Top Five names in some conversations as rumors swirl that the point guard needy San Antonio Spurs could seek a ball-handler through trade.”

In his lone season at Kentucky, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 47.5% from the field and 44.3% from beyond the arc. For his efforts, he was named the 2024 SEC Sixth Man of the Year and an All-SEC Second Team member.

Dillingham believes he can find similar success wherever he lands next.

“It doesn’t matter what pick I am, if I get picked 60th. I want to go to a team that trusts me and can help me build, and I can build with them, and make me better,” Dillingham said after declaring for the draft. “I just want to help my team win, and they can develop me and teach me things.

“Anyone can be special if they put their mind toward it. Just have confidence. It’s about what you put your mind into.”

The 2024 NBA Draft will be held on June 26-27. For the first time this year, the draft will expand to a two-night format. The first round will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., while the second round will take place at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York.
