Kansas State standing out to 2026 QB Jackson Taylor

Kansas State quietly is putting together a nice quarterback board in the 2026 class. Signal-caller Grant Smith of Texas is a major name to know, as well as DJ Bordeaux. Another significant quarterback prospect worth mentioning is Los Angles native Jackson Taylor.

It is very noteworthy that he came to the K-State camp July 25 despite holding an offer already from the Wildcats.

“The camp was awesome,” Taylor said. “I had a lot of fun being coached by Coach [Matt] Wells and Coach [Chris] Klieman. And it was great taking in the campus and facilities.”

“My favorite part was probably the one-on-ones,” he added. “It was great competition and a lot of fun to throw a bunch of reps since there weren’t a ton of quarterbacks there.”

He flew from California to Kansas just to work with the Kansas State staff and got what he wanted.

“I think Wells and Coach Klieman’s track record is huge and speaks for itself,” Taylor noted. “They’ve developed multiple guys into first rounders, as well as others in the league. They’re definitely doing something right.”

“I think it was mainly being able to have regular conversations with Coach Wells and being told how they were genuinely interested in me and were really excited about having me out,” he continued. “It makes you eager to go out and see all they’re talking about.”

It took Wells hardly any time to land his quarterback in the 2025 class. He’s working quickly on the 2026 cycle for K-State, too, by establishing strong relationships.

“It’s great and very well developing,” Taylor explained. “I first met him when he came by in the Spring. And we’ve been in touch pretty regularly (ever since). I love the heavily RPO-based offense they run, along with throwing the ball down field. And the consistency in winning games over there is definitely showing that they’re doing something right.”

A few schools have started to rise to the top for the rising junior and not just Kansas State.

“K-State is definitely one of them,” Taylor admitted. “And I also have great relationships with Auburn and Nebraska and just had a really fun camp at Minnesota but I definitely haven’t narrowed anything down yet.”
