Kansas State LB Daniel Green ruled out for season

Kansas State LB Daniel Green ruled out for season

Unfortunate injury news began to surface on Sunday and Monday and was confirmed by Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman on Tuesday. Linebacker Daniel Green will miss the remainder of the season after being hurt versus Missouri on Saturday.

He is the first and only season-ending injury of the season thus far for K-State. Despite the setback in the third game of the year, Green was the leading tackler with nine and led the Wildcats in tackles for loss with 2.5

That was after a slow start to the game where he was targeted a bit in space. Unfortunately, he wasn’t the only linebacker that was manipulated in that way by Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tiger offense. They were very effective in the first half because of that.

Green also suffered an injury during training camp and recovered just in time to be available for the Kansas State home opener against SEMO. In fact, he returned for a sixth season because he played through pain and injuries last year and didn’t reach the standard of play that he expects from himself.

K-State will begin the march without him on Saturday night in Bill Snyder Family Stadium when they host UCF for the first conference game of the season. It will also be the first league game as a Big 12 member for Gus Malzahn and the Knights.

At the moment, it appears that Kansas State may have the services of offensive tackle Christian Duffie for the first time this year. However, Green won’t be the only linebacker forced to miss. Jake Clifton is also expected to miss another game.
