Kansas State entertains budding in-state 2025 WR Bryson Hayes
Kansas State hosted several prospects over the Spring. That included all of the commits in the 2024 class and additional targets they hope to pursue, transfers and junior college standouts that can help them out as soon as this season and potential 2025 names that will loom large.
In regards to 2025 recruits, one of the best in the state could be Maize receiver Bryson Hayes. He lit it up during his sophomore season, thanks in large part to catching balls from now current K-State quarterback Avery Johnson.
Hayes was in Manhattan for the second Kansas State Junior Day event of the Spring on April 8.
“The visit was fantastic,” he said. “I loved the relationship between all of the coaches and players. You can tell they have a different kind of pride up there in Manhattan.”
It was the first time the receiver has been able to meet new K-State assistant Matthew Middleton since he was hired by head coach Chris Klieman and the Wildcats.
“My favorite part was definitely my position meeting with Coach Middleton,” Hayes discussed. “He is such a great guy. I like how he talks and coaches with his players. He believes that he doesn’t just turn players into better players, but that he turns them into better men. That stood out to me.”
Watching the practice and seeing the Kansas State receivers in action was another major part of the trip to The Little Apple.
“It was interesting to see how efficient they are,” Hayes acknowledged. “They were always moving and hustling around. I thought that the receivers looked great. There was great route running and awareness.”
Hayes has visited USC and Kansas, and he was able to compare those trips to that of K-State. He has also made visits to both Oregon and Oregon State, too.
“I feel like the atmosphere on the Manhattan campus is just different,” he explained. “They made me feel like I would fit right in.”
Kansas State Director of Recruiting Taylor Braet has been the point man for the Wildcats with the budding star from the Sunflower State.
“Braet is a great guy,” Hayes noted. “He’s also from Wichita, so we can relate.”
While he was not able to speak to the freshman quarterback and his former teammate, having Johnson on the roster is a pretty strong x-factor that K-State holds in their pocket if they decide to aggressively pursue Hayes.
“We did not get to talk in person,” he pointed out. “Avery was not done practicing when our group headed to lunch. He was getting to play, and that was cool to see. I talked to his parents for a while. They have been supportive. Avery and I do stay in touch.”
Although he does not have an offer from any school yet, that could change over the Summer.
“K-State, KU and Iowa State have personally invited me to camp this Summer,” Hayes divulged. “They have all shown interest in seeing me play in person. None of them have extended an offer, but I plan to work hard and I hope to earn it in person. I don’t think they believe in my speed yet, but I’m ready to show them this Summer. I am attending all three camps.”
“The first offer is important to me because it shows me the first school that believes in me,” he added.
