As you can see, both teams are incredibly banged up, and Oklahoma and LSU have both dealt with injuries throughout the year. It will be interesting to see how the game plays out.
Notably, the Sooners and Tigers do not play each other very often historically. However, most fans will remember the most recent of those matchups which occured during the 2019 College Football Playoff, for better or for worse — depending on who you were cheering for.
Joe Burrow threw eight touchdown passes in his first game since winning the Heisman Trophy as the Tigers cruised past Jalen Hurts and the Oklahoma Sooners 63-28 to advance to the national championship game. LSU ultimately defeated Clemson to win the CFP in the subsequent matchup.
However, the teams have played two other times in history and have split those matchups. Oklahoma’s only win was during the 1950 Sugar Bowl and can even the small, all-time series during the two program’s first-ever meeting as conference opponents.
Kickoff between the Sooners and the Tigers is set for 7 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN.
