Jordan Chiles takes Olympic bronze medal after late inquiry bumps up floor exercise score
Team USA made the Olympic podium for the final time in women’s gymnastics on Monday morning as Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles competed in the individual floor event. Biles, battling a calf strain, won silver behind Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, but it was Chiles who stunned the crowd in Paris.
Chiles’ routine first appeared to put her in fifth behind two gymnasts tied for third with a score of 13.7. However, Team USA used an inquiry to double-check the Bruins star’s score, resulting in a boost to 13.766, placing her third. Chiles won the bronze medal after taking home a gold in the women’s team finals.
