John Hunter Nemechek team frustrated over radio at Michigan: ‘Pretty much handed it to the 7’
With less than 10 laps to go at Michigan, the NASCAR Xfinity Series race was put on hold and John Hunter Nemechek was not happy. Nemechek was trying to maneuver his way to a victory, but it was interrupted by the rain.
John Hunter Nemechek is running part-time in the Xfinity Series on top of his Cup Series duties. He has already won this year and he wants more. The rain is not cooperating at the moment.
Instead, leader Justin Allgaier sits on pit road hoping that this race is called off. If the race does get going again, it will be an overtime restart to the finish.
As the caution flag came out for Kyle Weatherman and then for the rain, Nemechek’s radio sounded frustrated and disappointed.
“They just pretty much handed it to the 7,” a crew member said on the radio, via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic.
John Hunter Nemechek won the second stage. He has been one of the top drivers all evening. While there have been a couple of delays now for rain, this race has been solid. It is starting to get to a fuel-saving battle.
When the race gets going again, Allgaier will lead the field with Sheldon Creed on the front row with him. Sammy Smith, Nemechek, Noah Gragson, Taylor Gray, Austin Hill, AJ Allmendinger, Anthony Alfredo, and Jeb Burton make up the rest of the top-10.
Who is going to get the job done? Did Justin Allgaier get handed the win with the rain? Let’s see what happens in this overtime restart.
