Joel Klatt tells Georgia fans how to feel after Week 3

Joel Klatt tells Georgia fans how to feel after Week 3

Joel Klatt isn’t worried about Georgia. On Wednesday, the Fox Sports analyst explained why Bulldogs fans should relax as the season moves forward.

“Georgia fans, you know how you should feel right now? You should feel fine. You should feel fine because your schedule is very weak,” Klatt said on his show. “You’re not getting threatened in the [SEC] East, at least I don’t think so.

“Look at the pillow fight in the swamp. I don’t mean to throw shade out there but Utah handled Florida, and then Florida handled Tennessee. Is the East that tough? Probably not. Probably not. That’s why you should you should feel fine.”

The inciting incident

Georgia fans felt their first ping of nerves this season after the team squeezed out a 24-14 win over South Carolina in Week 3. While Georgia ultimately gained a convincing lead, things looked scary early.

Georgia trailed 11 points at halftime. If the Bulldogs somehow forgot, the fans in Sanford Stadium reminded them by showering the team with boos as they headed into the locker room at halftime. In fairness, Georgia fans aren’t used to being down on the scoreboard.

The Bulldogs haven’t trailed in a contest since their win over Ohio State in the College Football Playoffs last season. Klatt believes the program won’t break its streak again anytime soon.

“You’ve won 20 straight games now, 36 of their last 37,” Klatt said. “They host UAB this week, at Auburn next week. I know Auburn’s 3-0 but like, come on. Come on. So, Georgia, you’re down 14-3 at home last week, and you know what, you should feel fine. You should feel fine. I think they have the easiest path to the playoff.”

A comforting future for Georgia

As of now, Georgia will only face three other ranked opponents this season. Ole Miss is the only remaining opponent listed in top 20 in the country. While Georgia hasn’t always looked unstoppable, their statistics are still top-notch.

The team averages 467.7 yards per game while only allowing 264.3 yards per outing, the 15th-least in the nation. Georgia quarterback Carson Beck isn’t concerned for his team’s future. In fact, he was encouraged by their comeback against the Gamecocks.

“Obviously, we didn’t start as well as we thought,” Beck said. “The conditions were a little bit weird. We didn’t really get off to a hot start. But we kept our mentality, we stayed composed, we came out in the second half and I thought we really turned it up.”

Georgia will look to clean up any lingering issues this weekend. On Saturday, Georgia will square off against UAB at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
