Jamison Kitna reacts to being first 2025 quarterback offered by Kansas State

Jamison Kitna reacts to being first 2025 quarterback offered by Kansas State

Kansas State has already landed its 2024 quarterback in three-star Blake Barnett of Erie, Colorado. With that in mind, Collin Klein can turn his attention to the 2025 cycle. K-State had not offered a 2025 quarterback, but that changed on Friday afternoon.

Cincinnati native Jamison Kitna became the first 2025 signal-caller to be offered by Kansas State. He is the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna. The older Kitna played 14 seasons in the NFL with four different teams.

“I was smiling ear to ear and really happy after the offer,” the younger Kitna said. ” I was smiling because of the caliber of program, and I’m the first 2025 quarterback they’ve offered. But with any offer I’m super grateful, and it always makes smile that I can go to college for free.”

Klein extended the offer to the high school sophomore. It stemmed from his time at Lakota East High School in Ohio during the spring evaluation period. He was able to watch a workout where Kitna seemingly impressed.

“Klein was just saying how he liked how the ball came off my hand,” Kitna explained. “And how physical I am is one part of the game he also enjoys. But arguably, the biggest part is mental. And he liked my command and leadership as well as my faith and walk with the Lord.”

The two have only started speaking in the last week, but the K-State assistant has made a strong mark with the early three-star recruit.

“What has stood out is just how precise he is with recruiting,” Kitna noted. “He used the analogy of a sniper and not a shotgun. He likes to go after the exact guys he wants, not just throwing offers at the wall.”

Being the first quarterback in the 2025 class to be offered by Kansas State means a lot to Kitna.

“Man, that’s huge,” he pointed out. “Especially since places have offered upwards of 15 kids already. Being the only one is huge.

The next step for the sophomore is to go to camps in the Summer. He is in the process of figuring out which ones he will attend. It is also very early in his recruiting process, so he has not narrowed down his list of schools yet. But K-State will be in the mix.

He does know what he is looking for in a school he commits to, though.

“I’m looking for a place that I’ll grow spiritually, mentally and physically,” Kitna shared. “I want somewhere that will develop me for the NFL. I want a place that I’m their guy, a pro-style offense, then location is a plus but not a deciding factor.”

Being the son of an NFL quarterback has helped him so far in his recruitment.

“It just helps with what to look for in a school and who will develop you for the next level,” Kitna stated.

Kitna does not have a visit scheduled to Kansas State yet but would like to visit Manhattan.
