James Franklin previews Penn State’s matchup with Wildcats
The Penn State Football team is 4-0 heading into the final weekend in September and prepares for another Big Ten road game. This time, they’re heading to Evanston to face the Northwestern Wildcats. Head coach James Franklin began the weekly proceedings with this regular Tuesday press conference with the media. Check out his comments here or on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel.
Penn State head coach James Franklin’s Tuesday press conference
Franklin began his press conference with an opening statement and reviewed the game against Iowa, giving the team’s offensive and defensive players of the game. After generating 97 plays, the Penn State offensive line was the player of the week on offense. Chop Robinson was the defensive player of the week.
“So that turnover was huge. That game started the way Iowa wanted it to go. I thought the fourth and one from the 48 yard line was the second biggest play of the game,” Franklin said.
Franklin went on to explain the strengths of Northwestern.
“They want to throw the ball and they think that’s where they think they can have success. I do think their quarterback, Ben Bryant, is the best pure thrower we’ve seen this year.”
In areas that Franklin wants to see growth is getting more explosive plays.
“I think we need to show that we can be explosive to win and we haven’t done that as much. But that also does back to how people are playing us. Iowa was playing soft on the outside and not letting us get deep,” Franklin said.
