Jalen Hurts says there’s ‘thrill in not being satisfied,’ as Eagles chase Super Bowl title

Jalen Hurts said it is a thrill to not be satisfied in the NFL. Makes sense considering the Philadelphia Eagles lost Super Bowl LVII in February.
But Hurts is used to the grind and working hard. For as good as he was in 2022, an MVP candidate, he could be even better this fall.
Hurts spoke about that edge going into the new season with the AP’s Rob Maadi.
“Everybody wants to be the best and everybody aspires to be the best … but ultimately, you have to find something that separates you and that’s the thrill,” Hurts said on the AP NFL Podcast. “There’s a thrill in not being satisfied, and there’s a thrill in being on this journey, and I’ve embraced that. I love this game and I know I know my purpose within this game, and I truly just want to be intentional.
“I’ve always tried to be intentional, regardless of what it may have looked like, what was said or whatever it was, so every day I just try to be the best that I can be. That is not based off of external factors. Those things don’t matter. You know, you just try and control what you can and keep the main thing the main thing as always.”
An MVP candidate last year, Hurts led the Eagles to the best record in the NFL and romped through the playoffs before the agonizing loss to the Chiefs.
Last year, he threw for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, six interceptions, a 66.5% completion percentage, 760 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns.

So moving forward, Jalen Hurts sent a clear message about the Eagles this fall: it’s a different team.
“It was really good to get everybody together, meet the new guys and kind of start from ground one again,” Hurts said. “You know, I think at this time of the year, thinking about it holistically, last year is over. Anything that we were able to do last year, I’ve said this every offseason … To be honest I remember I went to Oklahoma and specifically talked about that. Nothing prior. Nothing has been done prior will get us to where we want to be now.
“There are a ton of experiences that we definitely documented, deposited in the bank if you will, to learn from and we will learn from and have learned from. But you know, it’s a day-by-day thing and I think everybody’s taking that approach aside to just kind of continue that progression.”
