Ithiel Horton and the Texas Longhorns roster

Ithiel Horton and the Texas Longhorns roster

UCF graduate transfer guard Ithiel Horton is on campus for an official visit.

The 6-foot-4.5 guard with more than 1,150 career points scored and 225 made three-pointers at 37.6% could become the final piece to the 2023-24 puzzle if he chooses Texas over Kansas and others.

Rodney Terry and staff currently have four guards on the roster with point guard Tyrese Hunter and combo guard Max Abmas locked in as starters. UT-Arlington 6-foot-3 transfer Chendall Weaver projects to play key minutes off the bench. Four-star freshman 6-foot-4 combo guard Chris Johnson could earn key time in the rotation. Johnson will begin workouts with the team later this week.

Horton would provide a different piece than Weaver or Johnson, however. He would bring a 6-foot-4.5 experienced guard to start on the wing that plays off the ball, and would be key in helping space the floor on the court with Abmas and Hunter. That big guard/wing with experience and perimeter ability would like land Texas in the top 15 of pre-season polls.
