Is LSU close to landing a new 2024 commitment?

Texas offensive lineman Ory Williams has been one of the LSU staff’s top targets on the offensive line, and he’s now on “commitment watch” entering the final week of July.
On Friday, Williams took to his Twitter account with the following: “commitment coming soon”.
Williams has a double-digit offer list, and the Tigers hold the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
On Saturday morning, I entered my On3 RPM pick for LSU to land a commitment from Williams.
LSU carrying confidence in the race for Williams
LSU was one of three official visits Williams made in the month of June, joining Florida and Texas A&M.
The Gators were the first program to host Williams in June, followed by Texas A&M and LSU. Williams giving the Tigers his final visit of the month was a good thing given a month long NCAA Dead Period followed soon thereafter. Williams didn’t make an official visit to Texas, though the Longhorns have offered him a verbal scholarship.
LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis has done a good job prioritizing Williams this offseason, and the buzz coming out of his visit to Baton Rouge was the Tigers had made a huge splash.
Florida was set to get Williams back to campus at the end of July, but he backed off those plans. Now, he’s tentatively set to be at LSU’s Bayou Splash recruiting event next Friday.
After speaking with multiple sources around his recruitment, I feel confident enough in LSU’s chances to put an RPM pick in on the Tigers with a confidence score at 75-percent.
Williams has been on LSU’s wish list from the start, and he would give Davis a third offensive line commitment for the 2024 cycle. Louisiana interior offensive lineman Khayree Lee and North Carolina offensive tackle Ethan Calloway are both verbally committed to the Tigers.
Williams high on the Tigers following his official visit
A key to LSU’s push for a commitment from Williams was his official visit in June, which gave the Tigers a three-day weekend to roll out the red carpet for the San Marcos standout.
“It was amazing,” Williams told The Bengal Tiger staff. “It’s the home feeling, you know what I mean? I’ve already been around the guys, we’ve had that bond and it just grew over the (official visit) with Coach Davis.
“I have the potential to be developed by one of the best coaches in the nation to make me one of the best players in the world.
“He really showed me what he has set up for my development plan. It was nice. He’s already took that step to show me and help me progress and develop.
“I trust him and (LSU head coach Brian Kelly. It was a great weekend.”
